Today, some of the Sec 3s and 2s cleaned up the Girl Guides room. I was very impressed when the Sec 3s approached me to initiate this cleaning project.

Despite the room being very small, we had kept a lot of things inside there, therefore it wasn't an easy task at all. But you did it. And along the way, I screamed at some of you. I'm sorry about the screaming part. But let me tell you the rationale of me screaming at you.

I wanted you girls to have a sense of urgency, and not take things for granted, like you have up till 6pm to clean the room. No! whenever possible, we should make the fullest use of our time, and attempt to do things before the deadline.

But I'm glad at the end of the day, you've managed to clear up the mess we left since the June holidays.

Dear Girls,

I was very proud of all the 18 girls involved in the Parade this morning. You marched in unison and the swing was quite good.Although not the whole company was involved in the parade this time round, but I witnessed Camaraderie amongst you girls. Reserves stayed throughout the rehearsals, and cared for your fellow Guides. That's the spirit that we want to encourage in Uniformed Groups.

I just want all of you to know that even if you are not selected for the Parade this year, there is always a next time. In life, things cannot always go our way. So we have to accept such disappointments with a open mind.Afterall, a Guide has courage and is cheerful in all difficulties!

It doesn't mean that you are a less capable Guide just because you are not in the contingent. In Guides we develop ourselves into all-rounders. But we are not perfect, you might not be good in your drills, but you might be good in other aspects, like doing the testworks, tying gadgets, organising or even designing things for the Company! So do not lose faith in yourself.

All this said, I want to remind you to not be complacent and continue to push the standards of Guiding up in SGS. To do that, we will need a lot of perserverance, hardwork and discipline.

"A Guide is self-disciplined in what she thinks, says and does."
Have a wonderful National Day break. And not forgetting our dearest Sec 4s and 5s who will be taking their prelims soon. Work hard and do Guides proud! :)
Love,
Miss Huang
